THE PROBLEM

What Are Romance Scams?

Romance scams usually consist of an impostor creating a long-distance romantic connection with a person, establishing what seems to be a deep and emotional relationship, while making promises and grand gestures to keep the victim hooked.

After a while, as the relationship becomes stronger, the scammer starts requesting financial assistance, gifts, or makes exaggerated offers for making profit. The scammed person usually succumbs to these pressures
